16th Sept 2018, Chongqing,
China - At today’s "13th Annual Meeting of Chongqing Mayor’s International
Economic Advisory Council " (hereinafter referred to as the "CMIA"),
Honeywell submitted the report entitled Taking a new path to get ahead - creating smart
industry clusters. The report proposes three recommendations on how to promote
industrial upgrading through smart technologies in Chongqing: developing and deploying
technologies including cloud platforms, big data, and the Internet of Things to
accelerate promotion of transformation of traditional industrial enterprises into smart
manufacturing enterprises; developing intelligent industry clusters, such as big data,
sensor and connected technology, leveraging Chongqing’s industrial base to spur growth
of digitization and industrial linkages so as to promote the establishment of a smart
city; enhancing support for industries and attract smart industries from central and
western China to Chongqing.
Mr. Shane Tedjarati, president
for Honeywell Global High Growth Regions, said at the CMIA, “Chongqing, as one of the
economic and cultural centers in the west China, has grown significantly along with the
booming of China's economy, achieving success in artificial intelligence, integrated
circuits, cloud computing, big data, the Internet of Things, smart robotics, and other
fields. However, the world’s eyes are increasingly fixed upon the intelligent
industries; Chongqing must continuously strive to make full use of its unique advantages
and take new paths to success, including by creating smart industry clusters. Honeywell
is willing to offer its full support in pursuit of a ‘Smart Chongqing’ with expertise
and connected technologies. ”
For example, in terms of
upgrading smart manufacturing level at the industrial enterprises, Honeywell’s Connected
Plant technologies can contribute a lot, which consists of three core pillars: process
interconnection, asset interconnection, and personnel interconnection. Process
interconnection mainly refers to the connection between the manufacturing process and
the experts. In the future, it will cover other industrial process providers. Asset
interconnection links assets with OEM equipment experts and AI analytical tools.
Personnel interconnection is tools which can connect experts with the best knowledge
sharing and collaboration tools. Honeywell has decades of experience providing solutions
in these three major areas; based on this interconnectivity, and equipped with expert
knowledge and cutting edge technology, Honeywell solutions help customers overcome
real-world problems in smart manufacturing.
Chongqing
is positioned as an important industry base in China. It is critical for Chongqing to
consider how to improve the competitiveness of Chongqing’s manufacturing enterprises
during industrial transformation, and how to lay a groundwork for future
growth.
Chongqing
is an important market for Honeywell. Honeywell opened an office in Chongqing at the end
of 2006. In 2007, Honeywell Process Solutions (HPS) selected Chongqing to established
its first global engineering service center in China, and it became one of the four
major global engineering service centers of HPS. At present, Honeywell has 160 employees
in Chongqing, most of which are engineers focusing on software, distributed control
system, automation, etc.
Honeywell
smart technology was also actively involved in the Chongqing economic development.
Honeywell Intelligent Building Management System and Honeywell Energy Manager have
effectively improved the operation efficiency as well as reducing the costs of building
equipment in Chongqing Ford plant. Honeywell Intelligent Fire Alarm System and Access
Control System help Chongqing airport improve the safety of fire prevention. In
addition, Honeywell's smart technologies and solutions can be seen in major projects
such as hazardous materials detection solution in Changshou Chemistry Park, the
energy-saving renovation of Chongqing Gas Group, Chongqing Metro and Chongqing Grand
Theatre, etc.
